How to sign “Baby” in BSL

Family & People

BSL and ASL are different languages — this is the British sign. See the ASL sign for “Baby” instead

Step by step

  1. Hold both hands in front of your body, one resting over the other, arms bent as if cradling something.
  2. Rock your hands gently from side to side, like holding a baby.

Practice tip

Slow the rocking right down when learning — the cradling mime reads best at half speed.
