How to sign “Water” in BSL
BSL and ASL are different languages — this is the British sign. See the ASL sign for “Water” instead
Step by step
- Hold your dominant hand flat, fingers together and palm facing down.
- Place the hand at the front of your throat.
- Make two short downward movements against the throat.
Practice tip
The contact is light — a gentle tap against the throat, not a squeeze.
