How to sign “Happy” in BSL

Feelings & Health

BSL and ASL are different languages — this is the British sign. See the ASL sign for “Happy” instead

Step by step

  1. Open both hands, palms facing each other.
  2. Tap the palm of your dominant hand against the palm of your non-dominant hand.
  3. Repeat the tap twice with a bright, happy facial expression.

Practice tip

The facial expression does half the work — smile while you sign it, or it reads flat.
