How to sign “Car” in BSL

Everyday Life

BSL and ASL are different languages — this is the British sign. See the ASL sign for “Car” instead

Step by step

  1. Hold both hands up in front of you with fingers closed, as if gripping a steering wheel.
  2. Move both hands up and down in opposite directions, like turning the wheel.

Practice tip

Keep the movements small and alternating — it mimes turning a steering wheel.
